WORKBENCH NOTE

Use one real project. The aim is to explain your reasoning clearly, not to make the work sound more production-ready or more impactful than it was.

Project story

  • Context: What problem did you work on?
  • Goal: What were you trying to learn, predict, or improve?
  • Your role: What did you personally do?
  • Approach: What was the workflow from data to evidence?
  • Key decision: What meaningful trade-off did you make and why?
  • Result: What did the evidence show?
  • Limitation: What should not be overinterpreted?
  • Next step: What would you do next with more time or better data?

Rehearse likely follow-ups

  • Why this metric, split, model, or feature?
  • What failed, and what did you learn from it?
  • What was the biggest limitation?
  • How would your approach work on new data?
  • What would you change if the project were used for a real decision?

Honesty reminder

  • Do not invent business impact, production deployment, team ownership, exact metrics, or company outcomes.
  • A precise account of your real choices, uncertainty, and next steps is stronger than an inflated story.
